The eye thing may well be flash bouncing of the back of the eye. you don't get that with humans as we don't have eyes that can see in the dark like rabbits and cats etc :)

Mine's a Finepix 2650. Also less than $200 American money. I do want a better one someday though.

Or most likely it had to do with the way the light was when we took these pics. The eyes don't look real. They look like glass eyes.
